Last game before shutdown

Updated: Jan 11, 2022

The Essex 73's and Amherstburg Admirals will get one last game in before the province takes measures to offset the impact of the Omicron variant. The 73's host the Admirals in Essex.

Essex beat Blenheim 10-4 on the road Sunday as Everett Parent earned the Colenutt signs "Champion of the Game" honours.

On Monday the team announced the signing of forward Jack Fuerth who was playing for the Essex-Southpoint Capitals Midget team. Jack is also a baseball player in the Windsor Selects program and can hit a ball.

The 73's are currently in second place in the Stobbs division with an 18-5 record while the Admirals created a bit of a cushion at 4th following Sunday's 3-2 against Dresden. Tonight's game is one of two in the PJHL and starts at 7pm.

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
