Clippers heading to OFSAA


The Kennedy Clippers faced a tough opponent from Sarnia's Great Lakes Secondary School in the SWOSSA championship at the Clipperdome.

This was a close contest all the way through with Kennedy leading 40-36 heading into the final quarter. Sidiki Kromah dropped 15 of his game-high 27 points in the second half leading the Clippers to a 55-48 win. Kennedy is heading to the OFSAA AA tournament in Ottawa starting March 4th.




A disappointing end to a strong season for the Holy Names sr. girls volleyball team. A week after beating Villanova in the WECSSAA AAA final in a barn burner the Knights travelled up the 401 to face the Chatham-Kent Hawks. The match went the distance with the Hawks beating the Knights in the tie-breaking set 15-8. They advance to OFSAA next week in Markham.


Volleyball


The South County Volleyball Club has had a lot of success on the court this season. Their 14U black team travelled to Stratford where they went undefeated at the OVA championship tournament bringing home the gold. They beat the St. Thomas Express 26-24 and 27-25.

The 16 National team took bronze at the Grand Prix tournament and will be seeded #1 for the Ontario Championships in April.


Windsor Spitfires

The Spits have 12 games left after splitting the weekend. Windsor made a furious comeback against Guelph Friday night for an 8-7 win before dropping a 6-3 decision Saturday in Owen Sound. The Spits, who have 18 wins and 43 points this season, host Flint Thursday at the WFCU Centre.


OJHL

After going undefeated in regulation time in 14 straight and soaring up the rankings the Leamington Flyers suffered a setback this past weekend. The Flyers lost all three games including a 4-3 double-overtime decision Sunday night at home against Oakville. Leamington is locked into second in the WEST Conference with three games left in the regular season. They host Wellington Thursday.


GOJHL

The LaSalle Vipers are 3-7 in their last ten games. They host Strathroy at the Vollmer Complex Wednesday and will finish 4th in the Western Conference. Their first round opponent is Chatham who finished the regular season Sunday night losing 3-2 to St. Mary's. The Lincolns are tied with London at the top of the conference but the Nationals win the conference title having beaten St. Mary three out of five games this season.


PJHL

It's playoff time in the Jr. C loop. The Lakeshore Canadiens open the first round with Walpole Island Tuesday at the Atlas Tube. With 74 points, the Canadiens (37 wins) finished tied for first overall in the PJHL with Hanover (36 wins). The Essex 73's were one point behind with 73 points. They open the playoffs Tuesday against Dresden at home.



The Southpoint Stars U13 girls hockey team went to South Bend, Indiana and visited the home of the Fighting Irish and won gold.


Windsor Express

The Windsor Express improved to 7-5 with a 95-94 win over London Sunday at the WFCU Centre. Shadell Millinghaus made a sparkling debut with the Express against his former team scoring 22 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Chris Jones is back in London following last week's trade and scored 19 points in his return to Windsor. Both teams square off in London Tuesday night.
